A Circular Economy application in The Navigator Company
Abstract
The Navigator Company is a Portuguese company, founded in 1975, dedicated to the manufacture and commercialization of paper in 15 countries worldwide. The company has a special concern for the environment and for future generations, being recognized as an innovative company for its research and development projects in the area of circular economy, and it is considered sustainable because it changed its linear economy strategy. The Navigator Company presents a circular economy, where, on the paper production process, all phases aim the harnessing, being 90% of renewable materials. In this process, paper is the final product that over its life cycle can suffer up to 4 change, and is therefore, considered renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. Due to the company’s sustainability policies, The Navigator Company belongs to the Executive Committee of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), being the only Portuguese company present in this council.
