Abstract

In this case we analyse the Social Marketing effort made by the Salesian Missions organization around the issue of child prostitution. Present in 130 countries of the world, this non-profit organization has as its mission to offer a quality education for children and youth in vulnerable situations.

In Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, hundreds of girls were orphaned after the Ebola epidemic that affected the population between 2014 and 2016. Homeless and unable to study, many found in prostitution the way of eating. The reinsertion program promoted by Don Bosco Fambul Center has achieved that 110 of them can start a new life, away from violence, diseases and other risks on the street.

The campaign Venderse para Comer (Sell Yourself to Eat) generated awareness about the issue and raised funds in different countries in Europe, in order to support the work developed by the Salesian missionaries in this African city.
