Abstract

The Operação Nariz Vermelho (ONV) is a Social solidarity private institution (IPSS) since 2007. Its key innovation is to promote weekly visits of Clown doctors to bring joyful moments to pediatric patients believing that being happy contributes to a better and faster recovery. Its disruptive genesis lead them to start an project investigation in 2010, to evaluate the impact of joy in the cure, in collaboration with the Education Research Centre - University of Minho (CIEd-UM), Research Centre for Social Intervention - Lisbon University Institute (CIS-IUL) and Doctors of Alegria - Brazil. During the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the ONV continued to innovate by creating the TV-ONV project, and thus entered the pediatric hospitalized services that were closed by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) in Portugal.
